About Rashid Aziz
Rashid Aziz is an Associate Professor in the Department of UI/UX Design at International University Canada, where he teaches and mentors students across the School of Creative Media & Design. His academic work focuses on design systems, examining how organizations build consistent, scalable component libraries and design standards that support efficient digital product development across large teams.
Throughout his academic career, Rashid Aziz has developed a teaching approach that bridges visual design craft with the structural thinking required to build reusable design systems. He encourages students to think beyond individual screens and consider how design decisions scale across an entire product ecosystem, including multiple platforms, teams, and product lines.
In his courses, Rashid Aziz draws on case studies from major technology companies, design system documentation practices, and current research in interface architecture to help students understand both the creative and technical dimensions of systems-level design. Students explore topics such as component library design, design tokens, cross-platform consistency, and collaboration workflows between designers and developers.
As an Associate Professor within the Department of UI/UX Design, Rashid Aziz also contributes to curriculum planning that prepares students for design roles within larger product organizations. He works closely with colleagues across the School of Creative Media & Design to ensure that coursework reflects current industry practices in design systems and cross-functional collaboration.
Rashid Aziz places particular emphasis on helping students understand the collaborative nature of systems-level design work, recognizing that design systems require close coordination between designers, developers, and product stakeholders. He designs coursework that includes structured collaboration exercises to help students practice this kind of cross-functional communication.
Recognizing that many of his students are working professionals studying online, Rashid Aziz structures his courses with accessible design system examples, clear documentation frameworks, and consistent opportunities for applied project work. His approach to online teaching emphasizes building practical systems-thinking skills that students can apply directly within product design teams.
Students who study under Rashid Aziz often highlight his ability to make complex design systems concepts clear and directly applicable to real product design challenges. His long-term goal as an educator is to help students develop the systems-level design thinking needed to succeed in senior UI/UX roles within growing product organizations.
