About Renee Lachance

Renee Lachance is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sustainability Studies at International University Canada, where she teaches and supports students across the School of Agriculture & Environment. Her academic work focuses on sustainable resource management, examining how communities, organizations, and governments manage natural resources in ways that meet present needs without compromising future availability.

Throughout her early academic career, Renee Lachance has built a teaching approach grounded in systems thinking, helping students understand how resource use, environmental health, and community wellbeing are interconnected rather than separate concerns. She encourages students to evaluate sustainability challenges by considering environmental, economic, and social factors together rather than in isolation.

In her courses, Renee Lachance draws on resource management case studies, sustainability assessment frameworks, and current research in environmental policy to help students build practical, analytical skills. Students explore topics such as water and land resource management, sustainable agriculture practices, environmental impact assessment, and the policy tools used to encourage responsible resource use.

As an Assistant Professor within the Department of Sustainability Studies, Renee Lachance also supports curriculum development that reflects current global sustainability challenges and emerging resource management practices. She works closely with senior faculty across the School of Agriculture & Environment to ensure that coursework remains relevant to real-world sustainability work in both developed and developing regions.

Renee Lachance is especially attentive to helping students understand sustainability challenges from the perspective of communities directly affected by resource scarcity or environmental degradation. She designs coursework that encourages students to consider practical, locally appropriate solutions rather than one-size-fits-all approaches to sustainability.

Recognizing that many of her students are working professionals studying online, Renee Lachance structures her courses with accessible case studies, clear analytical frameworks, and consistent opportunities for applied discussion. Her approach to online teaching emphasizes building practical sustainability assessment skills that students can apply directly within their own communities or organizations.

Students who study under Renee Lachance often highlight her ability to connect sustainability theory with practical, locally grounded resource management solutions. Her long-term goal as an educator is to help students develop the analytical and policy skills needed to support sustainable resource management careers across agriculture, environmental policy, and community development.
