About Layla Mansour

Layla Mansour is an Associate Professor in the Department of International Law at International University Canada, where she teaches and mentors students across the School of Law. Her academic work focuses on public international law, examining the foundational legal principles governing relations between states, including treaty law, state sovereignty, and the sources of international legal obligation.

Throughout her academic career, Layla Mansour has developed a teaching approach that builds from foundational international law principles toward more specialized applications, helping students understand the sources and structure of international law before examining how these principles apply to specific areas such as state responsibility and treaty interpretation. She encourages students to develop a solid grounding in core international legal doctrine.

In her courses, Layla Mansour draws on international law case studies, treaty interpretation frameworks, and current research in public international law to help students build foundational legal analysis skills. Students explore topics such as the sources of international law, treaty formation and interpretation, state sovereignty and jurisdiction, and the principles governing state responsibility for internationally wrongful acts.

As an Associate Professor within the Department of International Law, Layla Mansour also contributes to curriculum planning that provides students with a comprehensive foundation in public international law principles. She works closely with colleagues across the School of Law to ensure that coursework balances doctrinal rigor with practical application to contemporary international legal issues.

Layla Mansour places particular emphasis on helping students understand international law as an evolving body of rules shaped by state practice, treaty negotiation, and judicial interpretation over time, rather than a fixed set of static rules. She designs coursework that traces the historical development of key international legal doctrines alongside their current application.

Recognizing that many of her students are working professionals studying online, Layla Mansour structures her courses with accessible doctrinal explanations, clear case law analysis, and consistent opportunities for applied discussion. Her approach to online teaching emphasizes building a strong foundational understanding of public international law that supports further specialized legal study.

Students who study under Layla Mansour often highlight her ability to make foundational international law concepts clear and intellectually engaging. Her long-term goal as an educator is to help students develop the doctrinal knowledge and analytical skills needed to support further study and practice across all areas of international law.
