About Anya Petrova

Anya Petrova is an Associate Professor in the Department of Software Engineering at International University Canada, where she teaches and mentors students across the School of Engineering & Technology. Her academic work focuses on agile software development, examining how iterative development methodologies, sprint planning, and continuous feedback loops support effective software delivery within development teams.

Throughout her academic career, Anya Petrova has developed a teaching approach that connects agile theory with practical team-based development experience, helping students understand how agile principles translate into actual sprint planning, daily coordination, and iterative product development. She encourages students to experience agile methodology through hands-on collaborative projects rather than only studying it conceptually.

In her courses, Anya Petrova draws on agile development case studies, sprint planning frameworks, and current research in software development methodology to help students build practical team collaboration skills. Students explore topics such as sprint planning and backlog management, daily standup and retrospective practices, user story development, and the challenges of scaling agile practices across larger development teams and organizations.

As an Associate Professor within the Department of Software Engineering, Anya Petrova also contributes to curriculum planning that prepares students for collaborative, iterative software development environments common in modern technology organizations. She works closely with colleagues across the School of Engineering & Technology to ensure that coursework reflects current agile practices used in industry.

Anya Petrova places particular emphasis on helping students develop the communication and collaboration skills essential to agile teamwork, recognizing that agile methodology depends heavily on effective team communication and shared accountability. She designs coursework that includes substantial team-based project work to build these collaborative skills.

Recognizing that many of her students are working professionals studying online, Anya Petrova structures her courses with accessible methodology frameworks, clear project templates, and consistent opportunities for collaborative practice. Her approach to online teaching emphasizes building practical agile skills that students can apply directly within development teams.

Students who study under Anya Petrova often highlight her ability to make agile methodology feel practical and genuinely collaborative rather than just procedural. Her long-term goal as an educator is to help students develop the collaborative and methodological skills needed to succeed in software engineering and agile development team roles.
