About Celeste Donovan

Celeste Donovan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Entrepreneurship at International University Canada, where she teaches and mentors students across the School of Business. Her academic work focuses on venture financing, examining how entrepreneurs raise capital through different funding sources, structure investment deals, and manage investor relationships as their ventures grow.

Throughout her academic career, Celeste Donovan has developed a teaching approach that demystifies the fundraising process, helping students understand the different types of funding available at various startup stages and the tradeoffs entrepreneurs face when choosing between funding sources. She encourages students to think strategically about financing decisions rather than pursuing funding for its own sake.

In her courses, Celeste Donovan draws on venture financing case studies, deal structuring frameworks, and current research in startup fundraising to help students build practical financing knowledge. Students explore topics such as bootstrapping versus external financing, angel investment and venture capital fundamentals, equity and valuation considerations, and the investor pitch and due diligence process entrepreneurs encounter when raising capital.

As an Associate Professor within the Department of Entrepreneurship, Celeste Donovan also contributes to curriculum planning that prepares students to make informed financing decisions for their own ventures. She works closely with colleagues across the School of Business to ensure that coursework reflects current trends and practices in startup fundraising.

Celeste Donovan places particular emphasis on helping students understand the long-term implications of financing decisions, recognizing that early equity and structuring choices can significantly affect founder control and venture outcomes years later. She designs coursework that encourages students to think several stages ahead when evaluating funding options.

Recognizing that many of her students are working professionals studying online, Celeste Donovan structures her courses with accessible financing frameworks, clear deal structure examples, and consistent opportunities for applied discussion. Her approach to online teaching emphasizes building practical financing knowledge that students can apply directly to their own venture planning.

Students who study under Celeste Donovan often highlight her ability to make complex venture financing concepts clear and strategically relevant. Her long-term goal as an educator is to help students develop the financial literacy and strategic thinking needed to successfully fund and grow entrepreneurial ventures.
