About Dr. Charlotte M. Hawkesworth

Charlotte Hawkesworth is a Professor in the Department of Theology & Ethics at International University Canada, where she teaches and mentors students pursuing degrees across the School of Religious Studies. Her academic work centers on moral philosophy, comparative theology, and the ethical foundations of religious thought, with a particular focus on how classical frameworks of ethics intersect with contemporary moral challenges.

Throughout her academic career, Charlotte Hawkesworth has developed a teaching approach that encourages students to engage critically with complex theological and ethical questions rather than simply memorizing doctrine or historical fact. She believes that the study of theology and ethics is most valuable when it equips students to apply rigorous moral reasoning to real situations they will encounter in their personal, professional, and community lives.

In the classroom, Charlotte Hawkesworth emphasizes close reading of primary texts, structured debate, and comparative analysis across religious and philosophical traditions. Students in her courses examine major ethical frameworks, including deontological, consequentialist, and virtue-based approaches, and learn to evaluate how different religious traditions have shaped moral thought across history. This comparative lens allows students to understand both the diversity and the common threads running through global ethical and theological systems.

As a Professor within the Department of Theology & Ethics, Charlotte Hawkesworth also contributes to curriculum development, helping ensure that coursework remains rigorous, current, and relevant to students studying at the certificate, diploma, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. She works closely with colleagues across the School of Religious Studies to maintain consistency in academic standards while encouraging interdisciplinary connections with philosophy, history, and the social sciences.

Charlotte Hawkesworth is especially committed to supporting working professionals and adult learners who are returning to academic study later in their careers. She designs coursework with flexibility in mind, recognizing that many students balance their studies with full-time work, family responsibilities, and other commitments. Her approach to online instruction focuses on clear structure, accessible reading materials, and regular opportunities for meaningful discussion and feedback.

Students who study under Charlotte Hawkesworth often describe her courses as intellectually demanding but deeply rewarding, citing her ability to connect abstract theological concepts to everyday ethical decision-making. Her long-term goal as an educator is to help students develop not just academic knowledge of theology and ethics, but practical wisdom they can carry into leadership roles within their communities, organizations, and faith traditions.
