About Connor Maddox

Connor Maddox is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cyber Security at International University Canada, where he teaches and supports students across the School of Engineering & Technology. His academic work focuses on network security fundamentals, examining how networks are protected against unauthorized access, data breaches, and other security threats through layered defensive measures.

Throughout his early academic career, Connor Maddox has built a teaching approach grounded in foundational security principles, helping students understand network architecture and common vulnerabilities before introducing them to specific defensive tools and techniques. He encourages students to think like both defenders and potential attackers to better understand security weaknesses.

In his courses, Connor Maddox draws on network security case studies, threat detection frameworks, and current research in cybersecurity practice to help students build foundational technical skills. Students explore topics such as firewall configuration and network segmentation, intrusion detection systems, common network vulnerabilities and attack vectors, and the fundamentals of security monitoring and incident response.

As an Assistant Professor within the Department of Cyber Security, Connor Maddox also supports curriculum development that reflects current network security threats and defensive technologies. He works closely with senior faculty across the School of Engineering & Technology to ensure that coursework provides a strong foundation for further specialized cybersecurity study.

Connor Maddox is especially attentive to helping students develop practical, hands-on security skills, recognizing that cybersecurity work requires both theoretical understanding and the ability to apply security tools and techniques in realistic scenarios. He designs coursework that includes simulated security exercises to build practical competence.

Recognizing that many of his students are working professionals studying online, Connor Maddox structures his courses with accessible technical explanations, clear security frameworks, and consistent opportunities for applied practice. His approach to online teaching emphasizes building a solid foundation in network security that supports further specialized cybersecurity career development.

Students who study under Connor Maddox often highlight his ability to make network security concepts clear and practically applicable. His long-term goal as an educator is to help students develop the technical foundation needed to succeed in network security, cybersecurity analysis, and information security careers.
