About Tariq Hammadi
Tariq Hammadi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Event Management at International University Canada, where he teaches and mentors students across the School of Hospitality & Tourism. His academic work focuses on the operational and strategic dimensions of large-scale events, examining how conferences, exhibitions, and major public gatherings are planned and delivered successfully.
Throughout his academic career, Tariq Hammadi has developed a teaching approach centered on systems thinking, helping students understand how multiple moving parts, including logistics, staffing, vendor coordination, and risk management, must align for a large event to run smoothly. He encourages students to think beyond single-event planning toward the broader operational systems that support repeatable, scalable event delivery.
In his courses, Tariq Hammadi draws on case studies from international conferences, exhibitions, and large public events to help students understand the complexity of large-scale event operations. Students explore topics such as venue management, crowd flow and safety planning, vendor and supplier coordination, and the financial modeling required to deliver events at scale while managing cost and risk.
As an Associate Professor within the Department of Event Management, Tariq Hammadi also contributes to curriculum planning that prepares students for careers managing complex, high-stakes events. He works closely with colleagues across the School of Hospitality & Tourism to ensure that coursework reflects current industry standards for safety, sustainability, and operational efficiency in large-scale event delivery.
Tariq Hammadi places particular emphasis on helping students develop strong project management and crisis response skills, recognizing that large events often involve unpredictable variables that require quick, informed decision-making. He uses scenario-based learning to help students practice responding to common operational challenges before encountering them in real professional settings.
Recognizing that many of his students are working professionals studying online, Tariq Hammadi structures his courses with detailed planning templates, clear operational frameworks, and consistent opportunities for applied practice. His approach to online teaching focuses on building structured, transferable skills that students can apply directly to events of any scale.
Students who study under Tariq Hammadi often highlight his ability to break down the complexity of large-scale event operations into manageable, practical components. His long-term goal as an educator is to help students develop the operational expertise and confidence needed to manage major events and advance into senior roles within the hospitality and event management industry.
