About Frederick Ashbourne

Frederick Ashbourne is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Tourism Management at International University Canada, where he teaches and supports students across the School of Hospitality & Tourism. His academic work focuses on destination marketing, examining how regions, cities, and tourism organizations attract visitors while balancing economic growth with environmental and cultural sustainability.

Throughout his early academic career, Frederick Ashbourne has built a teaching approach grounded in practical marketing strategy combined with an awareness of tourism's broader social and environmental impact. He encourages students to think critically about how destinations build their brand identity while considering the long-term sustainability of tourism growth on local communities and natural resources.

In his courses, Frederick Ashbourne draws on destination case studies, marketing campaign analysis, and current research in sustainable tourism to help students understand both the creative and analytical sides of tourism marketing. Students explore topics such as destination branding, digital marketing for tourism, visitor experience design, and strategies for managing tourism growth responsibly.

As an Assistant Professor within the Department of Tourism Management, Frederick Ashbourne also supports curriculum development that reflects current shifts in traveler behavior and the growing demand for sustainable and responsible tourism options. He works closely with senior faculty across the School of Hospitality & Tourism to ensure that coursework stays current with evolving industry practices and traveler expectations.

Frederick Ashbourne is especially attentive to helping students understand tourism marketing from multiple perspectives, including the needs of local communities, environmental considerations, and the commercial goals of tourism organizations. He designs coursework that encourages students to develop marketing strategies that are both commercially effective and socially responsible.

Recognizing that many of his students are working professionals studying online, Frederick Ashbourne structures his courses with practical marketing templates, accessible case studies, and consistent opportunities for applied project work. His approach to online teaching emphasizes building marketing skills students can apply directly within tourism boards, travel companies, or hospitality organizations.

Students who study under Frederick Ashbourne often highlight his ability to connect marketing theory with the real challenges facing today's tourism destinations. His long-term goal as an educator is to help students develop the strategic marketing skills needed to support sustainable growth within the global tourism industry.
