About Naomi Sutherland

Naomi Sutherland is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Marketing at International University Canada, where she teaches and supports students across the School of Business. Her academic work focuses on digital marketing fundamentals, examining how organizations use online channels including search, social media, and email to attract, engage, and convert customers in increasingly digital-first marketplaces.

Throughout her early academic career, Naomi Sutherland has built a teaching approach grounded in data-driven marketing decision-making, helping students understand how digital marketing performance can be measured and optimized using available analytics rather than relying on assumptions about what works. She encourages students to test marketing strategies and let data inform ongoing refinement.

In her courses, Naomi Sutherland draws on digital marketing case studies, campaign performance frameworks, and current research in online consumer behavior to help students build practical marketing skills. Students explore topics such as search engine optimization and marketing fundamentals, social media marketing strategy, email marketing campaign design, and the key performance metrics used to evaluate digital marketing campaign effectiveness.

As an Assistant Professor within the Department of Marketing, Naomi Sutherland also supports curriculum development that reflects current digital marketing platforms and changing consumer online behavior. She works closely with senior faculty across the School of Business to ensure that coursework prepares students for the practical realities of digital marketing roles across various industries.

Naomi Sutherland is especially attentive to helping students develop strong analytical skills alongside creative marketing ability, recognizing that successful digital marketers must balance compelling content creation with rigorous performance measurement and optimization. She designs coursework that builds both creative and analytical marketing competencies.

Recognizing that many of her students are working professionals studying online, Naomi Sutherland structures her courses with accessible digital marketing frameworks, clear analytics tools, and consistent opportunities for applied project work. Her approach to online teaching emphasizes building practical digital marketing skills that students can apply directly within marketing roles.

Students who study under Naomi Sutherland often highlight her ability to make digital marketing feel both creative and analytically grounded. Her long-term goal as an educator is to help students develop the skills needed to support careers in digital marketing, online customer acquisition, and marketing analytics.
