About Samir Khoury

Samir Khoury is an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Science at International University Canada, where he teaches and mentors students across the School of Agriculture & Environment. His academic work focuses on water resource management, examining how freshwater systems are monitored, protected, and allocated to meet the needs of communities, agriculture, and ecosystems sustainably.

Throughout his academic career, Samir Khoury has developed a teaching approach that combines hydrological science with practical water policy and management considerations, helping students understand both the technical and governance dimensions of water resource challenges. He encourages students to think about water management as a shared resource issue requiring cooperation across multiple users and stakeholders.

In his courses, Samir Khoury draws on watershed case studies, water quality assessment methods, and current research in hydrology and water policy to help students build practical scientific and analytical skills. Students explore topics such as watershed management, water quality monitoring, water allocation policy, and the challenges of managing shared water resources across regions or borders.

As an Associate Professor within the Department of Environmental Science, Samir Khoury also contributes to curriculum planning that prepares students for water management challenges in both water-scarce and water-abundant regions. He works closely with colleagues across the School of Agriculture & Environment to ensure that coursework reflects current best practices in sustainable water resource management.

Samir Khoury places particular emphasis on helping students understand water management as a field requiring careful balance between agricultural, municipal, industrial, and ecological water needs. He designs coursework that encourages students to evaluate water management strategies appropriate to their own regional water challenges, including drought-prone and rapidly developing areas.

Recognizing that many of his students are working professionals studying online, Samir Khoury structures his courses with accessible hydrological data, clear policy frameworks, and consistent opportunities for applied discussion. His approach to online teaching emphasizes building practical water management skills that students can apply directly within their own communities or organizations.

Students who study under Samir Khoury often highlight his ability to connect water science with genuinely practical management and policy solutions. His long-term goal as an educator is to help students develop the scientific and policy skills needed to support careers in water resource management, environmental science, and sustainable development.
